Lonnie Johnson and Texas Alexander recorded about 20 songs between 1927-1928. Lonnie's sophisticated guitarstyle fitted wonderfully well with Texas Alexander's moaning singingvoice. I pieced this song together from several of their duets.
In those days Lonnie always played in drop D or G, there's much debate about that. When he played a 12 string guitar he often removed several strings, which ones, well there's also much debate about that too. I play it in drop G (DGDGBE) and use 10 strings.

Here's the link to another great Lonnie Johnson instrumental "Blues In My Fingers"

  • @bubbah12345

a 12-string xl set - for the rest read description please

  • Fantastic! I have posted you up on my website... the soundclips page ..what a genius! Is he french???

    Terry

  • Thanks Terry, but "genius" makes me feel uncomfortable. Everything I do has been done before; I just mix and match it. I'm Belgian, Flemish to be exact (main language is close to Dutch - like American and Australian English:-)
