  • how many cars can this pull?

  • @thelasthallow

I'm not sure. I recently added the traction tire wheel axle on the engine. I'm going to guess it can probably pull about 35 cars up a 1.5 to 2% grade.

  • @adfgfds i dont relly know much avout modle trains so when you say traction tire wheel im trying to figure out what that is. iv seen videos of bigboys on youtube here pulling a crapload of cars so i can only imagin that if all the driving wheels are powered it should defanetely be able to pull more. would you be opposed to trying it and uploading the video to youtube?

  • @thelasthallow

A traction tire wheel is basically a special type of rubber material that is fitted around one of the wheels to give extra traction. All the wheels are powered, but the traction tire just helps it that much more. I'm not sure when I'll be able to test how much the engine will pull due to all the people that run at the club I belong to. But I will certainly try when I have enough time.

  • if i were to convert to HO i would buy MTH but not for my O gauge im stritly lionel except for track.

  • What differs from Lionel and MTH O scale track?

  • Looking good, really like the broad sweeping curves too :)

  • @adfgfds the techs hate it. lol its just more to fix :)

  • @thelasthallow a traction tire is a small (depending on the train) black rubber band that wraps around one wheel on each side of a model train truck. metal on metal does not provide much traction. the rest do not so that they can make an electrical connection. I am an intern at MTH Headquarters in Columbia Maryland. i Work in the Sevice Department and hand numerous warranty repairs.

  • just the realism and that, i like mth track because it is low profile 3rd rail and its easyer to fill in ballest.
