Is it usually good to trade down against a supposedly stronger player, is it not? I guess it depends on the position.

@Casillas304 The usual way to become a GM ks to attainin a FIDE rating of at least 2500 and do well in at least two over-the-board, FIDE-sanctioned tournaments which feature GMs from countries other than your own. There are other ways as well: the World Junior champion is automatically awarded the title, for example.

There's nothing you can do on the ICC that will earn you a title.
