Great time today at DG Motors, Long Island (NY). Jeff had his Evo X dyno-tuned by their specialists and he picked up ~ 100 wheel horsepower with only a tune. Needless to say, I hate him so very, very much. :D

His only mods are

Buschur Cat-back exhaust
Nissei UICP
Buschur intake

That's it. I would also mention that the DG dyno is a Dyno Dynamics, which can be a real "heartbreaker" for those who aren't dyno-savvy....but I am sure I don't have to get into all that.

  • How the hell did he only make 182 in the beginning and at the end me makes 282 hp. That dyno is Bullshit evos come out the factory with 291 so WTF.

  • @Jester25ft The low overall power readings have to do with the type of dyno he was on - A Dyno Dynamics is a notorious "heartbreaker" dyno that always reads low in comparison to the (ssemingly) most common Dynojet dyno or something like a hub-based Dynapacks. My old, slow beloved 97 M3 would drop 225 whp and 225 TQ on a Dynojet, but the best it ever put down on a Dyno Dynamics like the one in the video was 185 whp with similar TQ.

  • @Jester25ft Sorry I had to split this up due to space restrictions - While the power numbers are universally low both before and after tuning, again it's due to the type of dyno being used. In the end the delta between the two graphs is what is important, showing the power upgrade, not the numbers by themselves.

  • As of last month the car now sits at 307whp and 319wtq on a different dynamics heartbreaker dyno

    :D

  • @3CMTE Okay caused that made no sense.

  • very nice, i got 40 ish whp and quite a few mpg from my street tune on my dsm, NEVER realized how powerful tunes are till then.

@kenuwine24 - that was my conclusion. my afr was at 10.1, i yanked it to 11.4 steady and gained all kinds of of hidden power, and ide say its because the knock(detonation) safeguard that mitsu put in place too.

  • you can take alot of mitsubishi turbo cars from the factory and gain crazy power just from tuning them. They come soo rich from the factory and on a conservative tune for your everyday person. Just for the simple fact if someone only runs 87 octane the car can compensate for that. I drive a 95 DSM and from the factory there like 9:3 air fuel ratio, now imagine if they tuned the car to a 11:1 ratio and tinkered with the timing...theres a major difference

  • evos stil make more power easier than subys. always underated. subys may have bigger displacement and more ADVERTISED HP, but when it comes down to actual numbers, they always are below the EVO

  • Can I throw in, there's something suspect there, my x stock rolled 173awkw which is like 230whp, after tuning it got a 195awkw, which is 261whp. That's without a change in boost or any other mod.
