This contest is being uploaded on request. I only wish there were more vidoes of this aria. I have seven, not a very large collection, but there is some good and even wonderful singing to be sure! Again a score of 1-5 for singing/characterization:
Emma Matthews- 2006
Desiree Rancatore - 2003
Elizabeth Futral - 1996
Natalie Dessay - 1995
Mado Robin - 1957
Roberta Peters - 1961
Joan Sutherland - 1967

  • The video I posted of this aria by her is FAR superior. However, I love her! 4/4. Her coloratura is SOO agile, though this is clearly not one of her better performances, her high notes just ring!

  • I know the video you are speaking of, the NYCO performance. I have that as well, however, I wanted to add something new. I agree there are aspects of the singing here that are not as nailed down, but overall it is well done. Also, this was her first performance of this concert, not an easy aria to "warm up" with! ;-)

  • no aguanto! que bonita interpretacion, no es lily pons pero aun asi me conquisto mas, simplemente me enamore!

  • !Bravo!

    Isabel

  • She's so All American lovely! Lets support our native singers!!

  • I like Ms. Futral for her acting as well as her voice--she digs into a character ala Sills. I like her sincerity and presence. Saw her doing Semele in Santa Fe in the 90's--wow was she good!!

  • The voice is already indicating a wobble is on its way. Listen to ADA SARI,

LUISA TETRAZZINI, MADO ROBIN, MILIZA KORJUS, LILY PONS, all representative

of the '"ART" of BEL CANTO.

  • ive heard a lot better from her

  • the last high note was amazing, she rly is talented i just wish she had held it longer

  • I think she isn't a coloratura, but more of a lyric with a really sweet tone. Perhaps a soubrette? Her top isn't really 'in' and she strains/cuts off her sound as she gets up there. Nerves, perhaps, or illness during this concert?

  • She opens her mouth for the E, and therefore loses her placement and pitch, and cuts off her air. Otherwise, her tecnique seems pretty solid, with lovely resonance and timbre, very fresh and sweet. She needs to trust her top notes more.

  • Despite the negative impressions of some viewer, I do think she is very good in this rendition.

    I like her timbre.

I don't know many others singing this, but I think she sang it beautifully and effortless.

Thanks to coloraturafan for this !
