@MissButterycup97 It's fine, if there are parasites on the snails they will still get into your tank whether the snails are in there for 1 week or 1 minute. Parasites and other pathogens are often present in the water, but with proper care the fishes immune system should keep them from getting sick.

is it okay to leave shrimp and snails in the tank and he'll just eat whenever he's hungry? because some people say that the food will bring germs that are potentially harmful to the puffer and the puffer will eat himself sick.

actually peeps, babyf8puffers in the wild are born further upstream in thier native estuary so freshwater is fine but it should be gradually raised to just under brakish level over time. so the older puffy is he needs more salt...
and feed em lotsa shellfish, helps to wear thier teeth/beaks down : )
