This, to me, was the very last legendary Mercedes that was hand built with a unlimited budget and won countless awards for 250,350 and even 500K miles. Not when Mercedes used plastic radiators, water-based paint, and other cheap items that made them a bitch to have after 100K.

For $38,000 in 1986, or about $79,000 right now BASE PRICE, you got lots great things. These were the real Mercedes. If I hear any W210 lover saying that the 96-02 E-class is better than these, go fuck your self

Update September 21, 2011: The current W212 is the true successor to the W124. The build quality of that model is about on par with how these were. So if you want a good Mercedes, the new W212 is also quite a bulletproof creation!

Enjoy!!!! Hail to the W124!

  • BMW did it a little differently; 325i , 3 series 2.5 liter I6 although technically the block was a 2.7 liter both used in the 325e and 325i 1985-92

I noticed with the Merc, the predecessor model to the C-Class was the 190E and I know it didnt have a 1.9 liter engine since I owned a 93 190E 2.6 and a 96 C280... so figure that out LOL

  • I can tell you liked this video LOL

  • Have had a W201 190E, W202 C280, now a W124 400E... 275 HP, heated, seats, traction control, and can do 150mph no problem ;) 164k miles still running strong

  • @viggoM35

    I believe it

  • @ToyotaforCorolla

When I get a chance I'll see if I can get some vids of my 400e up

since you see more of the 300e and coop Merc/Porsche 500e

The 400e was only produced in 92-93 then after that it was re-badged E420 so that might explain it

  • The reason why the 400E was rebadged to E420 because the engine was enlarged to 4.2L vs 4.0L.

They put the displacement and then add a zero on the end for the model number

    Ex:

Mercedes E350. Uses a 3.5L V6 (35) and they add a zero on the end to make it E350

  • everything written in this vid only applies for US. for ex, the production of the first w124's were in late 1984 but were counted as 85's. production ended in 1996, but still a few were made in 1997 labeled "final edition".

airbag was standard in the steeringwheel from -93, but optional from -92 and very VERY rare option on older models. pass. airbag was never standard. we had a 1994 E 320 with sunroof, 2x electric mirrors, immobilizer, srs in steeringwheel and manual getrag gearbox. ;)

  • i have a Mercedes-benz w124 250d.. a diesel engine... it was built in 1986.. now it has 1.300.000 killometers.. trust me...

  • I own a W210, and of course the W124 is better, but I would not say the W210 is that bad either. My brother had 3 W124's and he had his fair share of problems with his 2 estate's. Benz 4 ever

  • I did not mean to hit Flag, my mouse froze up very sorry

  • I own a 1986 Mercedes Benz. Excellent ride. I just love the power and the handling it gives. Being made the way it is you could feel the love Mercedes put into it.

  • mercedes e classe w124 the legendary of mercedes benz

  • Hey man, how's it going? Anyways, me and my dad have found something awesome: A 1994 E420. On your slideshow, it kinda looked like the car on 2:19, and it has the 4.2 liter engine that looks like the one on 3:08. Anyways, it has only 132,000 miles on it, and at a price for 3 grand, it seems like a steal because the car is in real good condition from the outside. If we check it out a little more, we might just buy it. Who knows?

  • Hi , i have a 1991 300E , great car, just coming up to 300,000 miles without any problems, this one is staying in my Family, my Son wishes to inherit it, wonderful , classic German engineering.

I have just realised that i'm on my Son's channel, my channel is MICKTHEMERC.

  • @mercedesbenzformula1 my mercedes is a turbo diesel as well. it has all the same options as my brothers 1992 300D 2.5 turbo. only diffrence is his is a 5 cylinder diesel, and mines a 6 cylinder diesel, and we both have turbo's. and yes, my cars in excellent condition, i have a few vids about it on my page. go check it out if you want.

  • @europe0wnz I appologize. What I ment to say was that the 300D in 1993 and the E300 in 94 & 95 were the only ones to have a turbo as well as the new engine. They definetely made 300D's before 1993 but only did so for 1987 & 88. By the way, great car as a daily driver. Is it in good condition?
