Quite possibly one of the worst games ever made...ranks right up there with Tic Tac Dough 1990 and Temptation 2007.

An update to the classic game of Aces High and Deuces low.

  • Where's Jim Perry when you need him? He was WAY better than Bullard, IMHO.

  • CS2001 wasn't right "up" there with TTD or Temp. No. It was WORSE. Not to defend them, but at least Temptation and TTD90 RESEMBLED their former formats. They were just did in by any or all of these: below-average host, cheesy elements, watered-down format.

On the other hand...THIS WAS NOT CARD SHARKS. AT ALL. Thank God Fremantle learned its lesson and brought back the classic format and look as part of Gameshow Marathon.

  • Pearson and FremantleMedia really know how to turn treasure into trash. Mark Goodson would have been furious to see his name associated with this garbage which is right up there with their tasteless and cheap 1998 version of "Match Game" and their horrendous 2000-2001 revival of "To Tell the Truth" and its annoying and unnecessary on-screen graphics and commentary. Then there was the usual dumber-than-a-brick panel of B-level "stars" many from other Pearson shows. Only John O'Hurley stood above.

  • So far, out of all the classic daytime network game shows that have been revived for syndication, Card Sharks is the only one whose format was completely revamped. All the others just had a few tweaks to their classic format.

  • after watching this bastardization of the original card sharks, i feel i want to gouge my eyes out. i had always heard it was bad, but i had no idea it was this bad.

  • WHAT the F*CK is THIS O_o? Thank god it didn't last long

The other three Goodson-Todman daytime network game shows that should have had a syndicated revival in the late 90s/early 00s are Password, Blockbusters, and Now You See It. I'm not sure they would work if they were revived in this current era.

  • This show is one of three Goodson-Todman daytime network game shows to have a syndicated revival, as in only syndicated. The others were Match Game and of course, the still-running Family Feud. To Tell the Truth started out as a primetime network game show so that one doesn't really count.

  • @DivaNLA

What name did you go by when you filmed your episode? I have about 8 episodes, maybe of them is it...

  • I think if they were gonna stick to this format, there are a couple things I think could have been done to make it more interesting. Number 1, find some way to incorporate the chips into the game where they decided who got the first crack of the cards, and just have normal change rules the rest of the way. Number 2, when they got down to the last card, the contestant in control should have had the option to play it or pass. Would create more strategy there, as opposed to pure luck. Just my view.

  • Definitely one of the worst revivals ever. I will say that the theme and graphics were nice, Gary Kroeger was a good announcer, the set was okay, and Pat Bullard wasn't THAT bad of a host (only slightly cheesy). But the format was an aberration, especially the "Chip Clips" aspect. That annoying "whoosh" sound when the cards were revealed didn't help matters either.
