@TAndrews2100 Paul Williams is an excellent example of a songleader! I hate to admit to watching a church of christ video for the sake of entertainment but he is very interesting to watch while he's worship leading. I too am a songleader. From one songleader to another, I appreciate the way you handled everyone elses criticism towards this young man.

Some of you say he's rushing it... and he is... but in his defense, some songleaders have to do that to keep the congregation from slowing them down. I'm speaking from experience here. Sometimes you gotta stay one step a head of them so they don't drag it down.

@dlewis94 what a mean spirited thing to say! i'd hate to be the burlington church song leader and read this! if you want to train young men to lead, the least you could do is be a little encouraging!

And the rest of yall need to chill out God Don't require Perfect singing if he did there wouldn't be people with horrible voices.... Obviously he needs work you encourage not tear down tell the man to look at Jeff Murrah or something Paul Williams Great examples of that song.. Don't say things like Don't just stand there

You did Well brother.. Needs a little bit of work Your tempo needs to be more consistent, direct your audience with your arm like Wellch said that lets everyone know your tempo.. Keep striving listen to some other brothers on Youtube it helps I'm 17 and Have song service Tomorrow night

This is Burlington, Iowa. Our congregation is about 80 total. Eric was 16 years old at that time and this was one of the first times he led singing and was on a Sunday night. He became the Sunday night song leader to help prepare him for future service. Eric is now a freshman at Oklahoma Christian University. I am his dad and an Elder at this Church.
