I once went 3 months gluten , dairy and sugar free . Then I went out to eat with my family . To reward myself on how good I had been I ate a piece of apple pie with ice cream ! I thought I would have to go to the hospital . I had a fever before I got to the car . My heart rate went up , my blood pressure skyrocketed and diarreah set in a couple hours later . My head hurt all night and I couldn't stop sweating . It was eye opening to say the least .

by the way here is a simple rice milk recipe
1 cup rice, washed
2 quarts water
Mix together all ingredients; let stand 3 hours. Simmer for 1/2 hour. Puree in a blender and strain through a cloth.
Will keep several days, refrigerated.

you are probably addicted to sugar because of a candida infection (a type of yeast), which is common for people with aspergers

Thank you so much for your perspective on this diet. You help me as a parent to understand what is going on with my young son who can't quite understand/explain what he feels. He is not autistic, but at 2 1/2 years old and on the GFCF diet for almost 2 years, he is much healthier (from my perspective!) and much happier!
Felix,
Gluten and sugar are two of the hardest foods to stop. However, if you can-you will have such clear thinking, cravings for junk go away, less anxiety.
I avoided both for 6 months, then stupidly ate a piece of chocolate cake...I got disoriented and slept for hours! I need to get off those two things again...but it's so hard!

Having been a sugar junkie my whole life, I can only agree with you, it IS a drug.(at least to me)
This diet is also doing wonders for my generelt health. NO McDs, No random junkfood, no softdrinks etc etc.. having worked as a techie for years i did have a horrible diet of coke and junkfood ;:)
