Escrava Isaura (1976) Capitulo 7, Pt. I

Some parts of the 7th episode of the famous Brasilian novela "Escrava Isaura" (Globo, 1976). Januaria tells Isaura all the truth about her birth. Isaura's mother, Juliana, was a slave at comendador Almeida's fazenda. Like his son with Isaura, comendador wooed Juliana's love. When Ester has learnt about it, Almeida was very angry. He sent Juliana to the plantation. But slave driver Miguel loved Juliana, and she gave birth to Isaura. But it was a difficult delivery and Juliana died. Miguel was expelled from fazenda Santa-Cruz, and dona Ester promised Juliana to take care of Isaura like she was her native daughter... Isaura asks Januaria to help her to find her father. The next day Miguel again comes to Santa-Cruz, and in the kitchen he meets Isaura... Isaura tells dona Ester about her dream: to become free and to get the letter of enfranchisement. Dona Ester is surprised, but she promises Isaura to think about it. She wants Isaura to be happy. Tobias again visits Santa-Cruz. Leoncio says him that he would like to meet Tais again. Tobias agrees with this. Ester receives the letter from Rio about soon arrival of comendador Almeida and counsellor Fontoura with his children: Malvina and Enrique to fazenda Santa-Cruz.

I remember 'Isaura' from many years ago. I have tried to get it on video (that was in the days before dvd). I contacted Globo Tv and asked for a copy? The only way was if I was a commercial broadcaster and the price was reflected in that. Do you have more episodes to share? Would love to see the complete series.

heh, I'm here again, I love this soap opera style telenovel. Today in the US I watch 'The Young And The Restless'. But I can't help but wonder if Escrava Isaura(aka, Rabinya Izaura) from the soviet union helped shaped my tastes towards soap style TV. Funny though how Victor Newman(Eric Braeden) on YR looks A LOT like Leoncio(Rubens de Falco). But then again in the '70's every one had a mustache. LOL

Isaura want's to know where she came from. Januaria tells her that her mother was a beautiful light skinned slave named Juliana. She was Lady Esters favorite slave but the husband Commodore developed eyes for Juliana. Juliana wouldn't give it up to him, that angered Commodore and he sent Juliana to the plantation for hard labor. The overseer fell in love with her and when found out got kicked off. Then Isuara was born, Juliana died in birth giving. Ester took Isaura and raised her.
