Although I respect your opinion, I was just curious to know if you realized the characters are derived from the Chinese culture? Though knowing Hollywood, they know they needed to find White people to 'bring in the crowds' to make a few million dollars. Apparently, Hollywood is a century behind in being more worldly and open minded. Guess white people are still ruling the world eh?

@cjaguar1 for a typical North American( which I consider myself one, even though I'm ethnically Chinese), that idea of casting sound absolutely stupid. but that just showed further how slanted our way of viewing things are when we can make excuse for white people simply by implying our sense of normalcy.All in all, when we can excuse TLAB's cast and give an excuse for the world being "not real" but not for your idea, we have something seriously wrong with our ability to judge

Hey Rand, i respect your opinion, but let me give you a hypothetical question, Will Smith, a huge name in hollywood, wants to create a trilogy, Lord of the Rings, and he casts it with a predominantly african-american cast with a few caucasians in the background. People protest, claiming that the world it is set in is based in a european setting, so the cast should be primarily white. Is this racist? Middle earth is a fictional place, but is it racist, or racebending at all? What do you think?

cause it's not definitely asian doesn't default white. you clearly admit that the cultures are strongly implied to be asian. how are you more upset about protesting against cast whitewashing than you are against the actual whitewashing? It's not a contradiction to point out that the casting clearly favors caucasian auditioning for the main characters, as even zuko was originally casted white before the actor had to drop out. of course you're not gonna find asians to cast if you don't look.

i think they should have made it so that they should have looked like the anime character not an uncle thats white while the the kid is indian i mean are we gonna have movies about acient china and the guys are mixed asian white and black if your gonna make a good movie you should atleast get that right and if they spend 100 million on a movie they should atleast be able to stand a little critics

this is a nice video but I believe you got your information wrong by interpretation. This means even though this world is fake, how come white people get the roles instead? I mean LOTRs was a fantasy world but you don't see any asian or mexican in those movies, so isn't racist by your standards on how you are judging this controversy?
