    word, Philistine: etymology, online dictionary:

O.T. people of coastal Palestine, who made war on the Israelites, mid-14c., from O.Fr. Philistin, from L.L. Philistinus, from Late Gk. Philistinoi, from Heb. P'lishtim, "people of P'lesheth" (Philistia); cf. Akkad. Palastu, Egyptian Palusata; the word probably is the people's name for itself.

    - - -

Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men - 1 Samuel 18:27 (go read the entire passage)

When you say "it belongs to Israelis," do you mean all Israelis, or just the Jewish ones?

Does land within the undefined boundaries of Israel belong to Jews born and raised in New York and Sydney and London, or only to Jews born and raised in Israel? Does it belong to the minister of the Australian parliament who physically assaulted me when I criticized the violent and racist state of Israel in his Australian taxpayer funded office?

How does it work for you, this belonging thing?

"The places which are most sacred to Christians-those having to do with Jesus-and which are also sacred to Moslems, are not only not sacred to Jews, but ABHORRENT to them.

...from this point of view, the Moslems, just because the sacred places of all three religions are sacred to them have made very naturally much more satisfactory custodians of the holy places than the Jews could be."

    President Wilson's King-Crane Commission Report, 1919

At one time the Muslims did bring art, math, etc into the world but that is a long time ago. As for Taliban being heathens & infidels, I don't buy it. They r merely following their Quran, unlike most Muslims. Plus I would only believe you if the rest of the Muslim world try to stop or went after these terrorists or zealots but instead it is the West that goes after them. When there is an election usually the most Islamic candidate wins. That tells me the Muslim world agree w/ them... silently.

For 1500 years, the muslim scholars preserved and protected knowledge. All knowledge was sacred to them, no matter where it came from. While the Christian Emperors of Rome were burning Alexandria, places like Alepo, Damascas, Cairo, Jerusalem, Qom, and Tehran protected knowledge that dates back even before the Sumerians. Only in the last 30 or 40 years have groups like the Taliban destroyed that which their muftis declared to be blasphemy. To me, they are the heathens and infidels. Khafir.

Wasn't Europe destroyed twice over in non-religious wars? And the world on the brink of total nuclear destruction during the Cuban missile crisis? Not to mention all the great atrocites of the recent centuries which more often than not were done with no connection to religion?

Hahah good point. It belongs to whomever can hold it. King of the hill you might say. It's a shame everybody has to think in terms of religion-- otherwise without all this constant war this region might rise to become an economic and cultural powerhouse once again
