From Side B of the album. You can now hear the whole side on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/4647530

I've found this video on one of my Hi-8 tapes (hasn't been erased yet). Also still have the sound files to go along with it. This video was taken in April 2008 before I would have the software to edit videos from DVDs.

I got "Hot Tomita" from eBay a few years after Y2K.

Moussorgsky; "The Great Gate of Kiev" from "Pictures at an Exhibition"

Camera: Sony CCD-TRV-608 Hi-8 Handycam

Video Capture: Insignia DVD Recorder (instead of that low resolution Dazzle DV-80)

Edited with Nero Vision 4 from Nero Essentials 7.

  • This work (Pictures at an Exhibition) by Moussorgsky is one of my favorites, and Tomita's use of the Moog makes it otherworldly esp. the piece abt the skulls --it's either "Catacombs" or "cum Mortuis in Lingua Mortua" -- you can almost "see" light shining from the skulls in the catacombs, it is so vivid. Amazing.
