To Clements,
This is the 1st place winner of the 2011 Clements International's Expat Youth Scholarship (16-18 age bracket).
I have lived in Brussels, Belgium my entire life. Thank you Clements for giving me the opportunity to pay tribute to my wonderful home city.

Sincerely,
Luke Turley

The video is based upon the prompt: "What is your favorite thing about the place you live and its culture?"
It's difficult to assign and define a specific culture to Brussels, so I decided to demonstrate the sense of ownership that comes with living in Brussels, as well as showing some more popular tourist sites throughout the city. The story begins on my street, showing more routine things that I did (including an out-of-focus shot of me sleeping), and then my school and the surrounding area. After that, the story travels farther and farther into the city, concluding with a view of the Brussels town square "La Grande Place".
My reason for including "Talked with Alejandra" toward the end was to illustrate the heart of the video, which is that Brussels is my home and my favorite thing about it is the events that transpired there and how they shaped me. The final shot featuring the sunset over the city was shot from my own rooftop.

Special thanks to Nolan Tarantino for lending his camera equipment, Matthew Forte for accompanying me on our two-day shoot throughout Brussels, and Allyster Taubeneck for composing an original score for the video.
