Over 1,000 people attended the Jefferson Area Tea Party's July 4th Independence Day celebration in Charlottesville's Jackson Park, next to the Albemarle County courthouse where Thomas Jefferson once argued.

Highlights of the event are presented against the backdrop of Cynthia Murry singing the National Anthem and Tom Slonaker reading the Declaration of Independence.

  • It was actually 1,048. Why do you doubt that figure? Where you there? What is your attendance count?

  • I'm from Va but our crews when to DC to Protest on july 4th, and Will go there again in 9/12. also for the big one.

  • I was there for the entire event and I would say we had 1000 people or more.

  • When someone starts thinking in terms of billions or trillions of wasted dollars, they tend to try to reduce the numbers to a satisfying minimum. If the number is the meat of the argument, this poor soul is without substance and misses the point entirely.

  • The whole area was packed. There were over 1,000 for sure.

  • "Over 1,000 people" Lol, I don't think so.
