After nearly five decades of war, the Colombian government appears to have dealt a major blow to FARC, the Marxist rebel group.
Defence ministry sources said the group's top commander, Alfonso Cano, was killed in a military raid on Friday.
Cano, who became FARC's leader in 2008, had a $5m bounty on his head.
