What is a reel?

a reel is a tune that's in 2/4 or 4/4, as opposed to a "jig" which is a tune in 6/8 or 9/8. Many fiddle tunes are reels or jigs.... there are slip jigs, single jig (6/8), not every eighth note is voice. And there's also the double jig which voices every eigth note.... :)
