  • love the video was wonderin if there was a way for me to get some specs..... im lookin into buildin my own smoker bbq grill combo jus lookin for some help in figuring out where to start thanks guys

  • @MrJeffreyRankin Thank you! We currently don't have any available plans for this project. But we hope that this will be the first of many. We are planning on producing accurate plans in the future.

  • cool, I'll build one.

I am am a mason, and have built a 20x40 brick patio and will finish the bbq and fireplace this summer. Ihave decided to build the smoker into the fireplace and not the bbq, since I have only left a 5' gap for the bbq between the masonry. any tips on dimensions and distance from flames, wood temp and breathing?

I know a lot about fireplace draft, but not smokers.

  • @brickmason26 Excellent. Please post a link to some photos when you are done. This is the first smoker we've built and we learned a lot about temp and breathing. One thing we would change is shortening the distance from the fire to the smoking chamber - we loose a lot of heat, causing us to have to build a bigger, hotter fire than usual. Also, we are going to drill a few holes in the rear of the fire box for better breathing. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • VERY GOOD!!! THANK YOU!!!

  • wow - looks awesome!

  • @KingbirdDesign Can you send me that design, I would like to build it as a diy project in my backyard.

  • @KingbirdDesign

I don't know much about smokers, but a lot about fireplaces.

You will gather more heat if you cut into your opening about 9" down to insert iron, or build a buck and lay 3 more courses of brick to the top of the fire box to create a smoke chamber below to direct all the heat up?

  • @KingbirdDesign

I'm biulding my outdoor fireplace right now on my off time, the bbq won't be built until later on, I have taken a few progress photos like yours and will try to create a video like yours to show the build.
