Stockhausen's 10th Klavierstucken; by far the most technically and mentally challenging of all of his piano works. The choice of notation makes the piece almost unreadable, and very very few people have attempted to play it. It is absolutely impossible to play accurately, due to insane gestalts of massive chords marked as grace notes, followed by thunderous, arm-sized clusters, interspersed with large silences. It definitely requires several listens, even for the most snobbish avant-garde poseur. Just take a look at the sheet music and I'm sure you'll agree with everything I said. This is the premiere recording. Out of print now, unfortunately. DO NOT buy Henck's set; it is atrocious. Just a warning.

Composer: Karlheinz Stockausen

  • are you psyco?

  • @skarlatospanagiotis

    Are you illiterate? Try "psycho."

  • @John11inch Try "Try psycho".".

  • @EendjeKwak

Why am I telling him to use the word "try"? I'll assume that was just a very stupid mistake; however, you are flat-out wrong about where the period belongs. A period belongs inside of the quotation mark. A question mark does not.

    Stay in school.

  • @John11inch Have you come across any bootlegs of Pollini's performances of this piece? I've been hoping for so long that he'd release a recording of his Stockhausen repertoire.

  • @wee815

Sorry, but I have never come across it.

At least enough to enjoy it, which I think is all that's necessary.

  • Je sent de la colère dans cette musique mais c'est quand meme intéressant a écouter.

  • sounds soft and squishy

  • @dicamillo686 As a self-taught mediocre musician, I can tell that this is music. Merely an acoustic creation. Unfortunately I've only been exposed to this music for a whole fucking year. Kudos Stockhausen, his approach in art is a boon to music.

    I <3 subjectivity too
