The Cäcilienbrücke or Cecilia bridge is a verticale lift bridge over the River Hunte and the Channel coast in Oldenburg. It connects the city center with the district Osternburg at a traditional bottle neck. It was built in its present form in 1927 at the site of an older bridge called "Cäcilie" of 1832 to increase capacity.
Pedestrians can cross the bridge when down and through three sets of steep stairs in each tower, when raised. The stairs have been equipped with guide railings for push bikes.
Note how cyclists lights are phased to cross the bridge ahead of motor traffic once it is lowered again.
