Great Ghazal Singer Specially Classical ghazal. Kitna bhi suno Jee nahin bherta. Classical singing that too in ghazals is very very difficult but Mehdi Hassan is very fond of this. I really heartily wish him a very happy and healthy life but rather unfortunately he is confined to be for a very longtime. May God take care of him. R. M. Dixit

Yun tu wo meri rag-i-jaan sai bhi thay nazdeek tar
aansoowo ki dhund mai laikin na pehchanay ga'ay
wahshaitay kuch iss tara apna muqadar ho ga'een
hum jahan puhnchay hamaray saath weeranay ga'ay
ab bhi unn yaadoon ki khushbu zahan mai mefooz hai
bara'ha hum jin sai gulzaroon ko mehkanay ga'ay (not in this ghazal)
kaya qiyamat hai kah Khatir kushta'ai shab bhi thay hum
subh bhi aai tu mujrim hi gardanay ga'ay

Thanks rahmankant for uploading this gem.....nobody can match Mehdi Hasan sahib the way he sung this ghazal....its just not a single raag, rather a combination of a few, which Mehdi Hasan only can do....may Allah give him good health. The poet is Khatir Ghaznavi, who hailed from Peshawar. The lyrics are:
Go zara si baat peh barsoo kai yaranay ga'ay
Laikin itna tu huwa kuch log tu pehchanay ga'ay
Mai issay shorat kahoon ya apni ruswa'ai kahoon
Mujh sai pehlay uss gali mai meray afsanay ga'ay
