Madden 12 tips - Stopping The Run Part 2

Now that we have the concept of creating a gap within the offensive line to later come through with our safety or force the RB to run into a CPU defender to stop the run, we can spin off of that and adjust to other run plays within your opponents arsenal. A very popular run play this year is any HB Toss, especially out of Strong-I Close. When defending a toss, you must remember that this run play is a high risk high reward run play, so you have to take into account the down and distance your opponent is facing, along with the score and situation within the game. You are then able to make a decision based on your position to how you want to react when the ball is snapped. When setting up the defense the way shown in the video, it is setup for you to decide to make a play coming through the gap as always and make a big play, possibly tackling the RB for a loss. Also you have the opportunity to come around the outside on the toss and seal off the outside, sending the RB to the inside where all of your defenders await. Whichever decision you make, the way the defense is setup will allow you to do so.

you would think it would take long but i do just a lot. if your opp is constantly running it you could have it set up before they snap it. and if you do it fast you can. i usually do a lot of d hot routs. its pretty simple

Good luck with that. It takes you about 15-20 seconds to set up your guys.

You wouldn't have enough time before each play to do all of this in a real game
