I get teary at this too. I think Will Sheff is a very unusual man, particularly in the way he sees women and writes about them.
-
The part that almost gets me really teary, "when I watch you Im proud". Such a rollercoaster of emotions as he tries to deal with what this woman has just revealed to him. Anger, vengance, feeling useless, frantic, trying to come to terms with it. Its such an impulsive and desperate song. I dont think in Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Cat Stevens many masterful years of wisdom they ever managed to capture this sort of human emotion.

If there ever was a song title so perfectly chosen it must be Black.

This is a great song. Jagjaguwar, their label, has this and a bunch of other OR songs for free on their site.

This totally reminds me of a more tuneful version of Bear Vs. Shark

their best song probably... i really love it!!!

This song is about a woman who got abducted and violated as a kid and couldn't get over it, isn't it? Man, very powerful when he mentioned how he's gonna tear the guy's throat! I just love the way Okkervil River use tragedies like that as their material. Totally real and compelling, too. This is my second or third favorite Okkervil River's song(I just can't quit their version of Omie Wise!)
