@blazednsleepy Hi. Comments weren't previously visible so I never posted the resolution. KitchenAid sent A and E service out the next week. The tech immediately ordered a new part. The part came the next week and the repair man installed the new touch panel and all is fine. KitchenAid gets props for taking care of the problem.

The fridge itself is dandy. Very roomy and so much space in the freezer. The part I like the best is the satin glide drawer glides: very smooth.

Just bought this unit 2 days ago. Touch panel went black this morning. No ice or water through the door. Yesterday, touch panel beeping sound was intermittantly not working. Panel mysteriously rebooted a couple of times. Now I'm waiting for the nice KitchenAid Customer Service lady to set up a repair appointment. Very dissapointed.
