watching the sun
coming up on the edge of the highway
wiping the blur from my dreamy eyes
is that venus hanging low in the sky
listening to tommy on the stereo
saying a prayer
for the soft brown eyes that ride
the back of a butcher block

will she remember me
and all laughter that we shared
the last time she held my face
but i'm all grown up and i
i still need her to care

am i coming home
to a wall i'll have to hide behind
maybe the truth i speak is all i need to heal the broken pieces of my youth
face to face with so long ago shadows

on the red trail of this hawk
that's carried me from Albuquerque

a steady raven's wing
trying to catch a patch of morning sky

Hey Zen -- Maybe I should take the marbles out of my mouth?? I'm working on it, believe it or not. But keep reminding me! I was heading east on I-40 and I can't tell you how amazing the sun looked coming up. Like this huge orange ball. I'd never seen it quite like that. Of course, I'm not usually up at the crack of dawn -- that may have something to do with it. I was writing these lyrics that popped in my head while driving, than I thot-- maybe I ought to pull over . . . duh . . . luv u
