Lyric for "The Road Home" © 2007:

watching the sun
coming up on the edge of the highway
wiping the blur from my dreamy eyes
is that venus hanging low in the sky
listening to tommy on the stereo
saying a prayer
for the soft brown eyes that ride
the back of a butcher block

will she remember me
and all laughter that we shared
the last time she held my face
but i'm all grown up and i
i still need her to care

am i coming home
to a wall i'll have to hide behind
maybe the truth i speak is all i need to heal the broken pieces of my youth
face to face with so long ago shadows
folded on my childhood days
rising like a phantom haze

i swear there's a message
on the red trail of this hawk
that's carried me from Albuquerque
to a place i thot i'd lost

a steady raven's wing
trying to catch a patch of morning sky
a thousand geese that v
how can they be so sure of their path
while mine's an approaching fog
but flaming comes the sun like a goddess
and it's me she's smiling on and i'm on
my way to a better day

coz now she remembers me
and all the laughter that we shared
she holds my face in her hands again and she smiles and i
i know she still cares

  • Straight from the heart n' lovingly lovely.

Tho' the lyrics are quite personal, many great lines within, nice.

Beautiful guitar work also. Yup. :-))

  • @profwaldo -- thx so much for ur kind comments. my mom was a special lady. i appreciate u taking the time to listen.

  • @shashilight I didn't realize...I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

My mom had to leave eight short years ago, inspiring me to start writing in earnest.

A fountain of childhood stories sprung forth, comforting me...

The pleasure was mine, in the listening. :-) I send my best wishes to you. :-))

  • @profwaldo -- thx so much -- ur so kind. i love it when i don't have to force people to listen to my music (so does my daughter ;-) -- that's awesome about ur song-writing getting a good jump start on the passing of ur mom. mom's are cool!

  • @shashilight - hahaha, You don't have to force people to listen cuz you're good.

I on the other hand don't force them because I want to keep them as friends. ;-)

Yup, mom's are the best... I'll even go so far as to say, ya' couldn't live without 'em !

I have a really good memory but it's really short, so I'm sayin' it now.

    Have a Happy Mother's Day !!!

    Take care my friend :-))

  • @profwaldo- - Thanks for the well-wishes and kind words. motherhood is grand-- the best thing that ever happened to me, actually. (good but short ??? i've heard that from other guys :-)

  • @shashilight Really? Well, in my case it's true. Wait, uhmm...,what are we talkin' about ? ;o)

  • Hey MM123 -

I'm on a tropical Island!! Smooches!

  • Hey Zen -- Maybe I should take the marbles out of my mouth?? I'm working on it, believe it or not. But keep reminding me! I was heading east on I-40 and I can't tell you how amazing the sun looked coming up. Like this huge orange ball. I'd never seen it quite like that. Of course, I'm not usually up at the crack of dawn -- that may have something to do with it. I was writing these lyrics that popped in my head while driving, than I thot-- maybe I ought to pull over . . . duh . . . luv u

  • Hey TO9 - I'm sorry about the whole mumbling thing. I'm working on it! Thanks for watching!
