Nice engine, i bought one of those a few months ago along with an original tank. Perfect for fishing and easy to move. Gave around $100 and its in pretty good shape.

Your video of the old Johnson 71/2 hp...Brought back a ton of memories...that was the motor used by our family at the lake from 1965 to 1985 in northern Mn...... with 7 boys in the family it received plenty of use chasing those northern's and walleyes on Boulder lake near Duluth....thank's again Bob J. and family

hey man nice engine!!!! i have an old 2stroke 2cyl like that but it has a bit of up and down play on the conrods is that a problem?? or would it be fine as long as it runs great??? bye!=D

Ok I see your running these old 50s motors in salt water, but notice these old motors don't have a sacrificial anode block on the leg.
My question is do you think there going to corrode away internally fairly fast in normal running use with out a anode block?

That should be me right now in my 14ft 1974 Appleby, but unfortunately my 1958 Johnson 5hp 2cyl motor is locked up big time, and it would cost over $1,000 to fix, so unless someone wants to buy it from me for parts or even better, restoration, let me know. Plus, mine doesnt have a hood

you can gently pry those teeth towards each other. The other thing is make sure none of the linkage is binding and everything is free. Those teeth skipping is common, especially when the tiller is raised and the handle is turned they'll tend to skip.
