When both surfaces are perfectly flat, they should momentarily stick together, due to the air pressure around them, and the absence of air between them.

Check out the videos on my channel for the full specs. I do tests under idle and load with the fans on high, and on low respectively.

I average about 25-30 idle, and 40-45 load with the fans turned up. With the fans turned down, I get roughly 30-35 idle, and 45-50 load.

I only hit over 50 when I am running a graphically intensive game like Oblivion with my fans on their lowest setting.

It's about air pressure. The same effect can be had by placing a playing card over top of a glass completely full of water. If you hold your hand on the card, and turn the glass upside down, the card will stick, holding in the water.

It's a AMD 6400 Black edition. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet, because I bricked my motherboard during a bios update crash, and had to RMA it to Asus to get it fixed. It should be back any day now, and I'll post my temperatures on the description for the video.

@MrGeforcerFX Anyone who cannot install a CPU should not be anywhere near the interior of a PC. Installing the CPU is probably the easier components.

@DemonAMVs except when stupid people install those wrong and crush the pins on the motherboard, its just as fragile design, but luckily a mobo is cheaper usually then a CPU, i have been fixing bent socket pins since LGA 775 was released.

lapping is nessesery when u reach the highest possible temp at the lowest stable voltage and u still need to oc more. water is not cooling the cpu fast enough.

The 6400 runs so hot, I had no choice but to lap it this Summer!! It went up to 60C running Prime95 on the stock HSF w/ AS5!!! Lapping didn't make much of a difference so I had to get a Xigmatek HSF to get the temps down.

WTF!!! I wish I had gotten a 45nm CPU instead. I never use the computer cuz the CPU is so power-hungry.

Yeah, I switched to MX-2 because I wanted a non conductive material. I broke a gpu once because the AS5 got onto the pcb while cleaning up a heatsink...I get better temps with mx-2 also.
