This sloth was moving above and across the walkway in the Graham Rainforest exhibit at the Vancouver Aquarium (Vancouver, BC, Canada). The biologist on site told me that he puts this sloths food on the tree opposite to where she likes to hang out to make her movea little bit. This gives people a good view of a sloth. The downside of this is, that her back is low enough for a person around 5 foot tall to reach up and pet her. This particular sloth is apparently the most grumpy and will take a rather wicked swipe at that person. They look nice, slow and cuddly, but in fact theyare just like any other wild beast and prefer not to mingle with us humankind. The other problem with having a sloth climb around, is that sometimes, and not too often, they lose thir grip and come tumbling down.
