Any institution with human beings will falter at times, but even if you read Anti-Catholics such as Adam Smith, they will admit that monasteries were the means of feeding the poor wherever they were and that many starved after monastery lands were stolen by the 'reformed' governments. They were also the foremost men in the science of farming, since they had the leisure to contemplate it. Don't write a requiem for our holy brothers, yet. True monastic tradition is making a trickling come back.

Hahahah! This happens to be the only episode/whatsit ma-doodle of Cadfael I have ever watched before. Ah well. Post one that's new to me. Or else!!!!

PS. Cadfael is totally hot. Is that a little creepy of me to say???

I just love the looks on the monks' faces when they start to hear the riot and lean forward to have a look, but just keep singing until they actually enter the church. :D

Can someone post an episode of Cadfael? If you post one that is available for free on Itv they will leave it up as it violates no law. Unfortunately we in the US can't watch it because they don't hold the right to show them internationally. But if someone from Britain put it up here in youtube we could see it! I have never seen an episode since I live in the US, but I have read all the books.

I don't agree with copyright infringement. Those that are on btjunkie or Itv ate kosher.

Thats very true! I suppose as long as basic morality survives, there is always somebody to uphold them, so they will always survive. Its a rather inspiring thought, really.

i'm glad to find such an oppinion here. it is true, monasteries are decaying/ faith is decaying, but at the same time they witness a rebirth. it's a very difficult period we are being through, but whenever there's torment and fight, there is also hope. and hope appears where you least expect it to.
