When the engine is cold, all the oil i at the bottom of the engine. This means things like the valves and piston aren't lubricated properly. When it warms ups it works its way around the engine and keep the metal components from scraping and chewing on each other. Run your car without oil and see how far you get. ;-)

its not the diesel version it smokes because it was very cold...i find the sound of the jaguar better than the db9
