March 29, 2008: The first egg is laid! Unfortunately, the live streaming video isn't working.

Last year, Scout laid her first clutch of eggs (4), but they were infertile. The cause could have been Scout's young age. She hatched in 2005 from the New Center/Fisher Building in Detroit, Michigan. The adult female that reared Scout is Alpha from the 2001 Columbus nest.

Orville was seen eating one of the eggs. It is natural for peregrines to eat their infertile eggs. The other 3 eggs were removed for testing (they didn't look right) and they, too, were infertile.

  • Congratulations Scout & Orville. The pair I watch in Evanston, IL, female Nona (for no name) and male Squawker, were delivered of their first egg of the season today as well, between 6:15 & 7:40 this evening. Very exciting.
