That is correct. This activity is not for bodybuilding. But of course, bodybuilding is only one of many reasons for which one might throw weights around. It's actually a sad state of affairs that the general public absolutely and only equates weightlifting with body building and muscle hypertrophy. Weightlifting is tightly associated with body building such that most can not tease the two apart.

This is not for bodybuilding. Although this kind of activity combined with adequate food will still give you impressive hypertrophy.

Almost seems not worth the effort, if your goal (as mine is) to keep in shape and have strong and good-looking legs. This guy is great and gives a great effort, but honestly: his legs look like any other Joe-Schmo walking around town. Going through this level of grueling activity... you would like to see some more apparent gains.

Unless you've tried it you have no idea how hard it is.

Wow! That was awesome!
We should all have an intuitive thought that strength is healthy and weakness is closer to feebleness and lack of good health. The stronger you are the healthier you are. Lift weights as a way to improve your quality of life through improved health and better ability to function deep into old age.

However, weightlifting provides significant benefits other than the type of hypertrophy sought in the body building universe. Among many possible values, weightlifting increases metabolism, fat burning, weight loss, and bone density. It strengthens joints. It improves balance. And of course it simply makes one stronger.
