  • The Hudson line is by far the most scenic commuter line in the tri-state area! Only thing I dont understand is why did they only put m7s on the lower part of the line that makes local stops and not the upper half where the express trains go. Thats stupid to me if you commute to Riverdale or Yonkers which is just outside of the city you get to ride an m7 and if you have to commute to Beacon or poughkeepsie which is almost 2hrs you have to ride the older trains? How dumb is that!

  • @fgjfdgjf - The reason why the M-7's run on the lower half of the line is because electrification ends at Croton-Harmon. There's no third rail beyond that point. The MTA doesn't seem to have any plans to electrify this part of the former New York Central mainline. But I agree, it would be nice to ride an M-7 all the way to then end!

  • amtrak, metronorth, via canada rail, uses these. nj transit use to have these. now they have pl42ac's.
