How does the role of Willy Loman change when played by an African American actor? How does any actor approach a role that has become some iconic? Justin, Avery, and Caroline discuss the experience of African American salesmen in the 40's and 50's and the way, in this production, the actors' cultural backgrounds impact their performances.

Avery Brooks stars in "Death of a Salesman" directed by Justin Emeka, on stage September 18-21, 2008 at Oberlin College's Hall Auditorium in Oberlin, Ohio. Visit oberlin.edu/salesman for tickets and more information on this production.

Oberlin professor Caroline Jackson Smith offers a look behind the scenes of the production in this series of interviews, filmed at Oberlin on September 1, 2008 and produced by Daniel Schloss.
