External Evacuation Controlled Descent Devices
June 2008: At the NFPA World Safety Conference held in Las Vegas in early June, 2008,
NFPA membership voted to include adoptable annexes in the 2009 editions of both the
Building Construction and Safety Code, NFPA 5000 and the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101
that specify conditions for installation and use of "Controlled Descent Devices" and
"Supplemental Evacuation Systems" currently under development by Advanced Evacuation Solutions
for use by civilians in high rise emergencies.
