@bloootube Same here :-)) In my very youth this song was for me the source for later passions towards carribbean music and people. And how I remember, sitting at a "Batey" in Dominican Republic, took the guitar from a haitian sugarcane worker and played and sung that melody. Haitian girls felt in love for me immediately, a long row of Haitianwomen lovers followed. Ahh, remembrances sooo sweet :-))

Jan, in my opinion, no one ever sang this traditional Haitian song more tenderly and more beautifully than Harry Belafonte. I was very pleased to find it on YouTube. Thank You for sharing it with the YouTube family - many of whom offer their hearts, minds, prayers and resources on behalf of the suffering children, women, men and animals in that quake-stricken land. Dear Heavenly Father, please seek and save, help and heal that Haiti might LIVE! Five Stars, Favorite and Subscription, Jan!

I've not heard this song since I was a young boy in the late '50's! How ironic that I found myself humming this tune at a time - some 50 years later - all brought about by this tragic misery wrought upon this beautiful land.
