@iSOBigD Hi, Thanks for the reply, Im a programmer, and not really a big fan of the kismet, is there a way/function that i can use to spawn the effect from the scripts? How would i link the action in the kismet to a function in the scripts, do you have any basic tutorials or know of any?
Thanks
Sam

Hi, really cool effects, Is there a way were i can call a particle effect from a script? because i want to be able to control when an effect appears and where.
Thanks
Sam

@SungSamuel1003 Yeah, of course. Using the visual scripting, you can link an action like a button press, the chracter stepping on something and triggering it, etc. to the "on" event for the particle system. Just open up Kismet and you can control most particle system aspects. Simple things like on/off or more complex things like particle numbers, vertex colors and so on.

Ok. Thanks for the info. Since the Unreal Tech books is made by 3d buzz. It should help me alot. What would I have to use Photoshop for?

@Oblivion2550 To make the particle texture and alpha maps. The editor is only used to control the behaviour of particles (life, size over life, rotation, change in vertex color, etc.) but you still need to create different textures for different particles like sparks, smoke, dust, flames, decals, etc.

Do you know any tutorials on how to make particles? You did a great job making those! I just started on UT3 editor for the first time. I also brought the Unreal Technology Books. (haven't started learning). I am trying to make a nuke explosion...any tutorials would be nice.

@Oblivion2550 While there are many ways to make a nuclear explosion, I don't know of any for the UE3, I've never looked for one. Once you know about special effects and using the UE3 particle editor (and Photoshop, of course), you can create any effect, really, if you know your limitations.
I learned about the UE3 ed from 3DBuzz, they did lots of tutorials for the "UT3 Bonus DVD" which you can probably "find" online. ;) Look up 3DBuzz and UT3 or UDK.
