Viola Davis Tackles Fear, Shines In 'Doubt'

Tony Award-winning actress Viola Davis has managed to stay out of the Hollywood limelight, despite a consistent acting resume that includes roles in everything from TV shows like 'Law & Order' to films like 'Antwone Fisher.'

Now, a new movie could win her some well-deserved recognition. She plays a key role in the new film, 'Doubt,' based on the Broadway play of the same name.

It's a story about recriminations and allegations at an all-white Catholic school in the Bronx during the 1960s.

She speaks with Farai Chideya.

This is the first time I believe I've seen Miss Davis on screen. Up until her performance started, I thought that Meryl Streep and Amy Adams were very good. When Viola came on, I was stunned. She took that part and soar above all the other actors. I could not take my eyes or ears from her performance and was so moved I had a difficult time getting back into the film. Short part or not, Viola Davis gave the best performance lead or supporting. It will be a crime if she does not win.

I like all her answers to the questions. I've seen Doubt, and I must say that she was so amazing in that film. She only has about 15 minutes, yet she was able to give parallel performance with Meryl Streep.

Viola is sooo beautiful. I wish she would be locked into a modeling contract. I swear she should be with Revlon or something. One of my favorite actresses. I wish she had more roles that showed off her beauty. All of her roles are great because she makes them great...but I love to see her get top billing. Don't let me have to write the script and put in the contract that only she can play the role!
