Here's another song from my old band. Once again, it's an instrumental version of our songs, played by me.

I decided to try out a new recording method for this one. In the past, I've always recorded using my camera. The problem is that my camera has a crappy microphone so it made my amp sound dry and weird.

For this video, I've recorded my guitar using my Pod X3 Live direct into my computer, while recording my playing at the same time. I then mixed the two to get a much clearer sound.

This is the same method used by some of my favorite YouTube guitarists. Thanks to Killrbuckeye for helping me out with this! His videos are awesome, be sure to check him out. He uses this method as well, and so do a lot of other great YouTube guitar players. From now on, I'll use this method to record my videos because it makes the guitar sound so much better and clearer.

Once again I used Acoustica BeatCraft for drum programming, a Pod X3 Live to record bass and guitars, and GarageBand to put it all together.

  • hello RedSGShredder, I am ssjdustin as you could probably already tell. I learned of you from Killrbuckeye. I have been playing guitar for nearly two years now. I love to shred out to anything metal. my band is in the works to start forming demos, and I am trying to find some software programs that would work for programming our stuff onto our computers to burn a cd off. I was just wondering, what is the best software you have used and prefer? Please let me know what your preference is. Thanks!

  • @ssjdustin Sure no problem man. Well I have a Mac because I do software development but I think most people use Windows. So on Mac, I use Logic Express. But as far as platform-independent stuff goes, I prefer EZdrummer/Drumkit From Hell for drums. You should check out my real website at redsgshredder (dot) com to learn more about my recording techniques. I have a bunch of information there.

  • you use pod right? can you give me the settings you used for this song?! please!!!!

  • Yes I do. I use a Pod X3 Live. Check out my website link and check the recording section to get my tones.

  • how did you made that distortion? please tell me!

  • Sure man, I recorded using a Pod X3 Live. If you have a compatible Line 6 device, you can download the patch I used at my website, under the "recording" tab.

  • Your cover of Testament's The Preacher is the reason I made a Youtube account a few years ago. I had to tell you how badass you were. You were badass then, you were badass when this video was made a year ago, and you're still a badass. STAY METAL \m/
