I'm still enjoying this cartoon on my channel page! Viewers of this might enjoy my hand drawn animated fantasies I made, BALDER'S EGG, THE MAGIC ARROWS, THE WINGED SANDALS, THE COLOSSEUM, THE BLACK WIDOW, etc. on my channel page on you tube! They have dialog and narration with thousands of line drawings!

You are a boobie.

Oh man, I read this story years and years ago. This and The Girl And The Wolf are two of my favorite Thurber pieces. :D

@sythersight Curiously enough this is limited animation. But they apply the principles of limited animation to great effect, unlike cartoons from the 70's-80's.

@Ichijoe2112 MY GOODNESS, THEY MUST'VE BEEN PSYCHIC!!!! (Read in Morgan Freeman's shocked voice)

Confound those ponies, they make me know culture

Am I the only one who's siding with the wife here? He woke her up in bed just to tell her he saw an F-ing unicorn. Won't you feel shit if there is an idiot who woke you up in bed just to tell you he saw a fucking unicorn?

"You are a boobie, and I am going to have you put in the boobie hatch." XD

This animation is pretty awesome. Or at least I like.
Kinda reminds of Charlie Brown.
The married couple in this cartoon are based on Thurber's first marriage. His wife was domineering, aggressive, and always the more practical one. Thurber was a hen-pecked husband and when he wrote this story (1939) he was on the verge of blindness. Being mostly blind Thurber saw a lot of things that weren't there. "For the hawk eyed person life has none of the soft edges which for me blur into fantasy…” -James Thurber
