  • Ok well i may have found the problem, it looks identical except that it is not the multi, simply says ALAN 48 EXCEL on the front. I wonder if it is the same inside and there is another way to get it into multi mode?

    Anyone?

  • @izzzzzz6 ill send you a message with the details of the mod from mods Dk website.

  • Since watching this vid,i tried to turn my rig on while holding the button like you say,and guess what,IT WORKS ON MINE TOO!!

I bought mine on Ebay thinking it was standard, but i get 25-30 meg (no alpha chanells). On FM / AM

Next step for me is a new power meter, but its not that important really.

  • @125or200px dont worry about the meter so much, midlands usually have lazy needles.

  • I am looking for more info on this version, i have asked Midland, hopefully they will reply. Thanks for the info, i hope my info helps someone, i wonder if the board at the back can simply be added to the radio i have?

  • The Dutch guy had reported having luck with pins 1 & 4 closed so i gave this a go. Changing pin 3 to open and pin 1 & 4 closed made no difference, band still not selectable and still widebanded? on my radio it came with only pin 4 Bridged and was set to lows mids highs am fm. I have also just noticed that my radio does not have the larger raised board near the back it only has the small squarish one the side neared the mic plug. Looks like its the board at the back with the uk & perhaps px

  • Hi, well this radio seems to be a bit different, it was bought from ebay france and is an alan 48 excel but the name does not end with the word multi. Last night i discovered another post by a dutch guy who had stated something similar. By this point i had discovered that bridging pins 1 & 3 had in fact widebanded the radio on tx & rx frequencies ending in 5 (same as ru setting) although the band is not selectable so uk frequencies were not available, i'm not sure about px ending in 0.

  • Hi, i am trying to convert one of these, i bought this one in france so it was set to L/M/H am fm, jumper s4 was the only one connected, now s1 & s3, s4 open closed but still no option to change country settings, nothing has changed. There are some more jumpers such as am fm which are closed and two more next to them which are open. Do u think the other jumpers could be why i have no selection mode?

    Thanks.

    James

  • @125or200px there is a zetagi b300p attatched to it but i agree it should rx SSB
