Big Orange Cat Memorial

Thor, the squirrel feeder sleeper, crossed the rainbow bridge on 11/5/08 after his diabetes got the better of him. He was the coolest cat ever; he chased sticks and balls, loved music, people, & his cat 'siblings.' Rescued from the local shelter, he proved to be the most loving, gentle, & fun guy you'd ever want to encounter. He was such an empath that he would pet us with his big, soft paws. It's only been 5 days and we miss him terribly. Who's going to sit on the patio with us on a cold, clear night, wrap up in a blanket, drink a beer, and listen to old ZZ Top and Steve Miller Band. Some of our boy's nicknames: Mississippi Red, Quackers McGinty, Tupelo Honey, Thorsten, Thorbelo, Torstinato, and Mr. Baby. Hope there's lots of gold thread to chase wherever you are. Your gentle spirit is always here with us.

Thor's Mommy...I found a pic to share with you...my boy was very large too...nearly 30 lbs. at one time. I'm 5'3"...he was 3' as you can see in the photo. Every time I watch your video I want to cry....Can you tell me who sings the song and what the name of it is? It's so appropriate for the big orange angels!

@gaypeta1 Just in case you didn't see SeepyGatito's reply, the song is The Sky is So Blue by Jane Siberry. It's on her 1981 debut album. It's one of the best songs ever. Jane is a true animal lover and so many of her songs are tributes to all living creatures.

So sweet.. I know you miss him a lot. I lost my big orange 13 y.o. tabby boy last Fall but surprises happen....just so that I found out his 14 y.o. Mommy was placed in a shelter in NM after her owner died so my cousin and I flew out from MD to save her and bring her home! That's how special these cats are. My boy was the spitting image of her in every way and now I have her to look after for the rest of her days! I have been blessed twice!

I want to thank you for posting this video. My big orange (ginger) boy Hobie Cat crossed the rainbow bridge 2 weeks ago due to congestive heart failure. Hobie was only 11 years old and at his heaviest he was 24 pounds, but he was big like your Thor kitty. The picture of him laying on you is especially touching because that is how we snuggled. Thank you again, this has helped me work through the grief. These big boys have great big hearts!!!!

You can tell he was a cool cat . . . the way he let you dress him up . . . my cat would have a fit. You can also tell from this video that he was very very loved and had a wonderful kitty life. That what counts.

I thought I recognized Jane Siberry singing. I have a big orange cat too. Mis name is Marcus (named for Marcus Cole from Babylon 5 because he knew no fear) and he's 17 lbs. He's my buddy!

I love my big orange boy...he's about 20 lbs (loooves his food) and 5 years old, soon to be 6. It's going to be a sad day when he dies. :( You had a very beautiful big boy.

Aww what a baby! I lost one of mine in 2009- also a Big Orange Tabby named Jake. He was my love- I can see that Thor was an awesome cat - wonderful memories :)
