If this event for only British competitors and of course Blackpool is the Open British Championship. Is this event not a big enough event for Donnie and Gaynor? Or just taking time off?

@CDAFishboy  No, Donnie and Gaynor were not competing that time. If you look at the finals of the professional Latin competition you will see they were not dancing..

They aren't on any channel now - they were broadcast by the BBC in the early 90s and I recorded them on tape at the time.

Donnie and Gaynor were champs in 84-98 plus or minus a year. This video is in the middle of their heyday. And both were competing at the highest level, hence my question.

Shirley can be seen now (2009) on the BBC series Strictly Come Dancing, and doesn't seem to have aged a day.
