Jimi walked up to Noel and said "Hey man I like your hair-- you wanna be my drummer". I lived in Jimi's flat in Woodstock NY, there were purple footprints across the floor. He walked them out one day and we kept as a shrine.

Jimi was damn near perfect in 1967 because he came out then,everything was fresh,the music he performed was new.After Monterey, everyone wanted to see him burn his guitar,and he got tired of that.When Jimi started introducing new music and new ways of playing the old stuff,the crowd didnt dig that,and he DID get booed sometimes.Anyways,that and his overbooked-ness, for which he took a lot of sleeping pills and boosters, contributed to his sloppyness during his later years.
