This is an endearing scene from the 1984 film Amadeus, starring F. Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri, Tom Hulce as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Jeffrey Jones as Emperor Joseph II.

The scene unfolds after the jealous Salieri has privately alerted the emperor's music director Rosenburg that there is a ballet scene in Mozart's new opera, The Marriage of Figaro, which is commissioned by Emperor Joseph II.

According to an edict by the emperor, ballet was not supposed to be included in the opera at that time. Rosenburg who like Salieri does not like the rise of the young composer Mozart and is eager to use the old rule to force Mozart to remove the ballet part from the opera. Salieri hopes to undermine his rival Mozart's new opera in any way he can, while outwardly pretending to be a friend of the unsuspecting Mozart.

Then the emperor shows up for the opera rehearsal...
