Antonín Dvořák. Opera Rusalka. Měsíčku no nebi hlubokém. Lyrics in Czech, Spanish and English.

Czech:

Měsíčku no nebi hlubokém,
světlo tvé daleko vidí,
po světě bloudíš širokém,
díváš se v příbytky lidí.
Měsíčku, postůj chvíli,
řekni mi, kde je můj milý!
Řekni mu, stříbrný měsíčku,
mé že jej objímá rámě,
aby si alespoň chviličku
vzpomenul ve snění no mne.
Zasvit mu do daleka,

¡Luna, no te vayas, no te vayas!

English:

Silver moon upon the deep dark sky,
Through the vast night pierce your rays.
This sleeping world you wonder by,
Smiling on men's homes and ways.
Oh moon ere past you glide, tell me,
Tell me, oh where does my loved one bide?
Tell him, oh tell him, my silver moon,
Mine are the arms that shall hold him,
That between waking and sleeping
Think of the love that enfolds him.
May between waking and sleeping
Think of the love that enfolds him.
Light his path far away, light his path,
Tell him, oh tell him who does for him stay!
Human soul, should it dream of me,
Let my memory wakened be.
Moon, oh moon, oh do not wane, do not wane,
Moon, oh moon, do not wane...

  • Those who can sing...sing.

The ones that cannot find fault and critique.

  • I think personally that this performance is one of the best Rusalka ever sung by non-native (czech) singer. Her Czech is understandable and pretty good and singing is simply beautifull. Of course Me as a native Czech could hear some differences from perfect czech language, but this is quite acceptable and i was really nicely surpriced by the way she sang it. she is better Rusalka than anyone i know accept milada šubrtová and deffinitely top sinnger..

  • Lucia Popp so much better IMO

  • perfektní

  • Every time that I listen to this piece by Ms. Fleming, she simply tears me apart.

  • a heartbreaking story performed flawlessly by Renee Fleming..

  • @siepat And maybe Lucia Pop?? (For the Czech, i mean)

  • Fantastic *.*

  • Odd that Fleming basically raised this Opera from the dead, if her Czech is so poor! And that she would have not gotten any language coaching in the MAJOR houses in which she sang this role. On the other hand, Milada Subrtova, cited in the hate posting below, has no profile in the great international houses AT ALL.

    Odd.

You are so right about that. They should just sit back and enjoy a beautiful voice...

  • Though nicely sung, it's the worst pronunciation I've ever heard
