Should vegan pharmacists be allowed to refuse filling prescriptions for cholesterol drugs, because eating animal protein is against their morals?

@exacerbatedtaboo When you work for a corporation you have to follow corporate guidelines. From the major corporate retailers such as walmart et al, you will always get your meds. This is specifically dealing with private local businesses where the pharmacists & the business owners agree not to sell the medication. It boils down to the right of a business NOT to be mandated by the government to sell a product. Should a steakhouse be required to sell steak tartare?

@Th2EyA0rEa1MoN2gUs No one is taking anyone's free will away except the right for the pharmacists to follow their conscious. It is simple - go to walmart or walgreens & get your drugs there. The pharmacists have to follow corporate policy & the drugs will always be given. This give the right of a pharmacist & a private pharmacy to refuse the medication which under current regulation they are mandated to carry & dispense. As for suicides/murders, guns don't kill people. People kill people/self.

@Char99 But this give the right of the pharmacy & the pharmacist to deny the medication if they are in agreement. You would always be able to get it at walgreens or walmart because the pharmacists there have to follow corporate policies. But this give the opportunity for pharmacists to find a position in a pharmacy that shares his beliefs. Right now it is mandated you must give the product regardless of your beliefs. That is like mandating grocers to carry and sell condoms.

@MaxVonSinister And with that I can fully agree. The issue of dispensing medication never came up really before the birth control pills. It is only a handful of real extremists that would go so far in denying pain medication to do so would be insensitive and down right cruel. Which is against the oath of do no harm.

Shouldn't it be up to the pharmacy and not the pharmacist? If religion is preventing one from properly doing their job then that should be grounds for termination.
