  • Nice Hawken copy.

  • if you don`t have a good array of tools and blueing knoledge you would be better off buying it built , i had trouble with the wood fit on the tang and on the bottom of the stock , browning the barrel and parts did not turn out well , they are great guns , if you have the tools and patience and know woodwork it may turn out well , the kit contained all the parts, but my stock was not drilled and cut right , so i had to do alot more work to get it right

  • i am now building a 54 flint kit by lyman which is the way too go , i got it on gunbroker and recieved it within a week , i browned the metal instead of bluing , these are great guns , i also prefer the great plains over the trade rifle

  • Good looking gun, it's nice to see young guys interested in old rifles! I also am thinking of getting a smoke pole, but in 50cal. It's going to be a thompson center firestorm, if you hadn't seen it before you might want to check it out! Its old technology meets modern day material. But you still can't beat those Kentucky long rifles, and I just happen to be from Kentucky. So keep your eyes sharp and your flint sharper.

  • I shoot 75 grs.

  • It's rifled for round ball and that what we use at our shoots. The pan takes 4F .

  • cool, thanks!
