I truly feel sorry for Gheorghe Muresan about this game. This might be the best defense anyone has ever put up and still let his opponent score 50 points. Alonzo Mourning comes out wild and scores 21 points in the first quarter by outrunning Big Gheorghe down the floor for easy hoops, making difficult shots over Muresan (check out the fundamentals on Gheorghe as he's always keeping his hands straight in the air) and getting cheap calls. Zo had some nice poster dunks over Jim McIlvaine and Gheorghe Muresan as well. March 29, 1996.

@saturndual32 I'm Seattle-born and raised, Japanese-American, and a Sonics and Blazers fan. I so much wanted the Blazers to get Mourning in 1995-96! I actually practiced "Alonzo Mourning Jumpers." I'm 38 in 2011, so you have an idea as to how old I was when Mourning was in his prime.

In Muresan's rookie year, there was a game where Mourning went 6-for-18 vs, Muresan. So, like when you play against your friends, some days you have their number and vice versa. Bet Mourning and Muresan had a lot of respect for each other. Even if he blocks you, you CAN'T get mad at Big George! Yah, Chicks dig it!

Alonzo, my favorite center back then. He played with so much passion and energy. I was so happy for him when he won the title by contributing with that awesome blockshot party he had againts the Mavs at the end of game 6.
